Would you like to purchase Sugar’s hit comedy album?
Unfortunately, Sugar Presents: NASTY-ASS PRANKS VOL. 1 is currently out-of-print, and has been for the last 3200 years. In 2007, Skat Records announced its intention to release a special Five-Thousandth Anniversary edition of the record, only to later delay the release date indefinitely, citing unspecified legal concerns.
Mostly likely, the legal issue reflects a long-standing copyright battle over the album’s inclusion of Sugar’s novelty dance track “Chalcolithic Ladies Gotta Give It Up,” which samples the lyre solo from a popular Sumerian temple rite. Attorneys for the goddess Inanna (Ishtar) have historically maintained that she owns the rights to the song, as the lyre solo was presented to her as tribute.
Sugar commented on the ongoing dispute in a late Bronze Age posting to his cuneiform fan tablet:
“Demons, Demi-gods, and Churls: Do Not Believe the LIES spread by Her Skankiness, Ishtar, or her sheep-f***ing husband, or their respective legal counsels. ‘Chalcolithic Ladies’ and its slammin’ lyrics are One-Hundred-Percent SUGAR ORIGINALS. All I’ve ever tried to do is liven up this Fertile Crescent with my Patented NASTY-ASS PRANKS, but I guess some people can’t handle the laughs. Well, if it’s a Fight You Want, sister, Sugar can bring the Heat. I’m gonna make you wish you never Dragged Your Ass Back from the Underworld. In the meantime, sure, let’s just see how much fun Mesopotamia is WITHOUT my celebrated crank calls! Smell you later, a**holes.”
Rest assured that The Lair ETSY STORE of the Dreaded Atrox will make NASTY-ASS PRANKS available for purchase just as soon as this legal conflict is resolved.
